9 months in South America and North America

When I was in my early 30's, I made a promise to myself : "Girl, by 35, I want you to do be in a place that you would have chosen, not imposed on by the routine ! It can be a new home, a new city, a new job, but it needs to make you happy and you need to enjoy your life !". It is only lately that I have remembered that promise... I'm now 35 and I have realised that I'm the only one responsible for my own happiness. So I have quit my comfortable job in London and decided to go on another adventure...

Enfin à Cuenca en Equateur ! Finally in Cuenca in Ecuador!

After two months spent in Peru, it's time to change country. I hadn't planned to stay that long in this country, but I felt the need to take my time for the first few months of the trip.

We crossed the border between Peru and Ecuador during the night. Our bus, which left at 11.50pm from Mancora, arrived at the immigration office at 1.30am. After 2 hours of queue, we leave the office and go out to find our bus which was waiting not far... and which wouldn't have been able to leave without us anyway...as the battery died !

Did the bus driver stupidely listen to the radio during our 2 hours of queue and used the whole battery ? We will not know. He doesn't seem very panicked and the other passengers try to fix the issue. At one moment, all the men passengers are asked to push the bus ! In vain. The driver gives up and accept to call for another bus at 4am. But instead of letting us get on the bus when the bus arrived at 5am, the driver tries to swap the two batteries... without success. At 6am, we get on the bus and drive to Ecuador.

We arrived at Cuenca in Ecuador at 10am, and I'm pleasantly surprised by the country. It seems to be richer than Peru. The buildings are in better state. The children are cleaner. Even the furnitures stores seem to sell higher standard products. Cuenca is a lovely and pretty little town located at 2500m high. We will spend our 2 days there to eat, eat and eat.
