9 months in South America and North America

When I was in my early 30's, I made a promise to myself : "Girl, by 35, I want you to do be in a place that you would have chosen, not imposed on by the routine ! It can be a new home, a new city, a new job, but it needs to make you happy and you need to enjoy your life !". It is only lately that I have remembered that promise... I'm now 35 and I have realised that I'm the only one responsible for my own happiness. So I have quit my comfortable job in London and decided to go on another adventure...

Who never dreamt of seeing Machu Picchu? The experience was simply amazing. We joined a 4 days/3 nights trekking tour called Lares trek with the company Alpaca Expeditions. I can highly recommend them. They are so organised and we felt safe the entire time with them. We had awesome Adolfo and Ervin as guides. We also had our own cooking chef who followed us during the 4 days, 1 chef assistant, 3 porters and 4 horsemen. Imagine, they wake you up at 5am in the morning, bringing you a hot tea to your tent, with a bucket of hot water, soap and towel. You have a full breakfast with the group, you leave the campsite and by the time you have trekked and reached the lunch spot, they had already washed the dishes, packed up the 7 tents, dining room tent, dishes, tables and chairs and cleaned the campsite, carried the tons of stuff on their back and horses and trekked the same way as you, then set up the dining tent, cooking materials and prepared lunch before you reached the lunch campsite...and all that wearing sandals..and doing this 3 times a day. Of course their bodies are used to high altitude but still the porters and chef were just superhumans. It was a luxurious camping experience.
We had 3 days of trek, the first 2 days climbing uphill up to 4650m of altitude, and the 3rd being a downhill. The 4th day was dedicated to Machu Picchu.
