9 months in South America and North America

When I was in my early 30's, I made a promise to myself : "Girl, by 35, I want you to do be in a place that you would have chosen, not imposed on by the routine ! It can be a new home, a new city, a new job, but it needs to make you happy and you need to enjoy your life !". It is only lately that I have remembered that promise... I'm now 35 and I have realised that I'm the only one responsible for my own happiness. So I have quit my comfortable job in London and decided to go on another adventure...

Lobitos & Mancora

                                           ----------------------------------------------------------------

Lobitos and Mancora, at the extreme North of Peru, are both surfer towns, and still, they are both so different from each other.
Lobitos is a small desertic village where prevails an absolute peace and where travelers come to surf and to relax. Only the music played in our big wooden house perched on a small cliff gives some sign of life in this atmosphere of Mississipi. A bonfire gathers the travellers in the evening around the freshly caught and wood-grilled fishes. The village is so far away from everything that the water is a rare and expensive commodity. The water is pumped from hundreds of kilometers away and stocked in the tanks. In our hostel, they filled the tanks twice a week. And the power cuts happen daily. We are really far from the rest. My only critical question each day  is : should I lie down on the chaise longue, on the sand or in the hammock to enjoy the sun ?
Mancora is however more of a Thailandese town where reign parties. Souvenirs shops and travel agencies are aligned all along the streets. We can eat pizzas, sushis and burritos. There is a a swimming pool welcoming the gringos and a bar playing loud music until late into the night in our hostel. For sure, it's a different atmosphere compared to Lobitos only 70km away.
