9 months in South America and North America

When I was in my early 30's, I made a promise to myself : "Girl, by 35, I want you to do be in a place that you would have chosen, not imposed on by the routine ! It can be a new home, a new city, a new job, but it needs to make you happy and you need to enjoy your life !". It is only lately that I have remembered that promise... I'm now 35 and I have realised that I'm the only one responsible for my own happiness. So I have quit my comfortable job in London and decided to go on another adventure...

I would have never thought that there was a huge city in the middle of the Amazonian forest. Manaus, the capital of the Amazonas region, is a town made of concrete which shelters more that 2 millions of people. The metropole of the jungle is one of the most original of the country due to its geographic location, its colonial history and its economic development. It constitutes the 3rd industrial hub of Brazil behind Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. Tourism wise, it's the entrance door to the amazonian forest.

We will do a day tour to see the meeting of the River Solimones and the River Negro which don't mix due to their different temperature and speed. On the same day, we will visit a indigenous tribe for which I question its authenticity and we will be swimming with the pink dolphins, strongly present in this region.

The theater Amazonas, dated 1896, is the most symbolic monument of Manaus. It was built with brick from Europe, French glass, and Italian marble. The tiles are from Alsace. The biggest troups of opera, theater and symphonic orchestras have performed in this theater.
